However, recent studies show more risks. Evidence shows YK-11 causes oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage in the hippocampus, which harms memory formation. Research also shows it triggers inflammation, raising IL-1β and IL-6 levels. These changes can harm brain chemistry and reduce cognitive function. Taken together, these studies point to clear cognitive risks, not benefits.

What Are the Side Effects of YK-11?

YK-11 carries risks as well as possible potential benefits. Online anecdotal reports mention hair loss and acne as common androgen-related effects. Some sources mention joint pain or tendon discomfort. Research suggests myostatin suppression can weaken connective tissue strength, which may explain these reports.

Recent studies also show YK-11 can cause strong oxidative stress and mitochondrial damage in many tissues, including the liver and brain. These risks go beyond typical androgen-related effects.

Researchers also warn about possible testosterone suppression and hormonal imbalance, which may require post cycle therapy after a SARM cycle in experimental contexts. Concerns about liver damage come mostly from comparisons with other SARMs and anabolic steroids, not direct human studies. Overall, reports of potential side effects are anecdotal or based on comparisons, not proven by controlled trials.
